The Applicant Profile contains all of the information associated with an applicant. It has personal information and professional information, as well as a historical tracking of all activities, exams taken, submittals, and placements.
The Applicant Profile BrightMove is the information set associated with any applicant who you have manually created, who has submitted a resume themselves, had a resume parsed in, or has applied for a requirement. The Applicant profile contains the following information:
All of the personal and unique information associated with the applicant. Personal information includes name, address, email address, Social Security number, Date of Birth, and other identifying data.
This outlines the applicant’s actual interview and placement history from the initial screening process all the way through placement. The language used in this section of the BrightMove application is customizable, and should reflect the licensed BrightMove user’s recruiting and placement process and terminology so that each licensed BrightMove user with the appropriate permission set can see where each applicant is in the recruiting and hiring process at any time.
Any resume that the applicant has sent in or the licensed BrightMove User has forwarded into the ATS is stored here.
The attachment section of the applicant record contains any document that the BrightMove user has chosen to insert into the applicant record. Some common attachments are formatted resumes, test results, interview transcripts, and background screen results.
The historical review of every activity that a BrightMove user enters into the applicant profile. Examples of some common activities are phone calls, emails, and meetings.
This is how the applicant found out and applied for work with your company, or where the recruiter found the resume of the applicant. Some examples of sources are a job board, job fair, reference from current employee, or a walk-in.
This field displays the work permit held by the applicant, the current company they are working at, and their job title. It also contains the date the applicant is available to begin working and their preferred location. These fields can be completed by the licensed BrightMove user or by the applicant when they create a profile within BrightMove.
Personal information that does not normally appear on a resume. This information must be filled in by the licensed BrightMove user and can be customized.
This section of the applicant record displays the EEOC information that is captured and stored. This information can be entered by an applicant when he or she creates a profile or later on by the licensed BrightMove user. (It should be noted that entering EEOC information is VOLUNTARY for the applicant.)
Reflects both the applicant’s desired and current pay rates. The rate can be entered as an hourly or annual rate, and can be entered by the applicant if he creates his own profile or later on by the licensed BrightMove user. There is also a field allowing for comments regarding payment.
The notes section is where a BrightMove user can enter information about a candidate. For instance, if a recruiter speaks with a candidate over the phone and the candidate mentions that he is an Indianapolis Colts fan, the recruiter may enter this into the notes section so that the next time he talks with the candidate he can bring up the game.
Any exam assigned to the applicant by a licensed BrightMove user is reflected here. Once an exam has been completed by the applicant the exam score, time it took to complete the exam, and the pass/fail result will show here as well.
Contains the applicant’s educational information. This can be entered by the applicant when they create a profile or by the licensed BrightMove user.
This is a box that a BrightMove user may check to indicate that the candidate is not employable by their company.
]]>This is where you can enter the skills or keywords that you are looking for in the candidates’ resumes. You can also select either “and” or “or” from the algorithm menu. If you select and, your search results will include resumes that have ALL of the words in your search. If you select “or” your search results will include resumes that have ONE of the words.
In the top right hand corner of the advanced search screen there is a page size option (drop down box form) that allows you to select how many search results you would like to see displayed on your screen at a time.
This section of the screen allows to the BrightMove user to search candidates’ personal identification information. The user can enter the last name, first name, middle name, Social security number, date of birth, email address, status, or user name they would like to search for.
This middle section of the advanced search screen allows the user to input criteria like street address, city, state, zip code, and country, and search their resume database using those criteria.
The Source section of the advanced search screen allows you to select a certain candidate source that you would like to search by. For example, if you would like to find the candidates that you received from Monster.com, and you had Monster.com set up as a source, you could enter that criteria in the source box and see all of the candidates you had received from Monster.com. You also have the option to search for candidates by referral source, which you will see right next to the ‘source” drop down box.
If you are looking for candidates with a certain type of work permit, at a particular current company, with a specific pay arrangement (e.g. W2, 1099), current employees people marked as “DO NOT HIRE”, or for candidates available on a certain date, you can do those things form this section of the Advanced Search screen.
You can use the Compensation option of the Advanced Search to conduct a query based on desired or current salary or hourly rate.
If you would like to search by any of the personal information that you have put into your candidates’ records such as spouse name, pets names, or anniversary date, you can d so from this part of the Advanced Search screen.
If you have created a field that is unique and special to your company within BrightMove, you have the option to search your candidate database by that field from this part of your Advanced Search Screen.

BrighMove ATS includes a real time posting mechanism for most of the major job boards, and batch posting for a handful of other free boards. The JDE (Job Distribution Engine) is a flexible and robust platform for easily plugging new job boards and APIs into BrightMove to facilitate the “Edit Once, Post Everywhere” philosophy.
BrightMove has developed relationships with different Job Boards. We have a special way of sending them jobs from BrightMove so that the jobs will post on their sites just as if you had gone to the site and manually posted it yourself. When you add, edit or delete a job in BrightMove, the respective changes are made on the job boards, eliminating hours of job board management.
To post to Monster.com, contact your account representative at BrightMove. They will initiate a conference call with the Monster team responsible for online job postings. Once we get a few access codes from Monster we will walk you through the simple process of posting your selected jobs on Monster. ]]>In the submittals section of the Applicant Profile page, find the job that the person is being hired for, and click on the “Add Activity” icon to the right of the position title. You should now see the “Create New Activity” screen.
From the list of available options in the submittal status drop down menu, select “Accepted”. Select the appropriate activity type form the menu, and then type in your notes on the acceptance. Click on the blue “Submit” button at the bottom of the Create New Activity box.
You will now see a screen that says “Submittal Accepted by Client”. Fill in all of the appropriate information (start date, hire date, end date, commission end date, etc). Make sure that the CORRECT recruiter is shown in the recruiter box. This information is used to generate the commission report, as well as appear on the appropriate Placement Report. Make sure that the correct employment type is selected, because this information is used to generate the profit margin for the placement. Fill in any bonuses or MBO notes that you have, and then click the blue “Submit” button at the bottom of the screen. The “Placement Details” screen will be displayed.
If the placed applicant does not appear on the appropriate placement report, make sure the correct Start and End Date (if contract placement) are correct.

]]>No matter what screen you are viewing in the BrightMove Application, you will always see the words “live help” in the blue bar next to an icon that looks like a life preserver. Any time you have a question and would like to chat with a BrightMove Account Manager via Instant message, click on the words “Live Help”. A chat window will be opened up and during normal business hours (approximately 8:00 – 5:00 EST) a rep will be online to help you. If it is outside normal hours or if every representative is busy, an email with your question will automatically be generated and sent to BrightMove support. You email will be answered ASAP.
]]>A territory is an area or segment that a salesperson or account manager is responsible for servicing. For instance, if a company has clients spread out across a city, they may have territories set up based on cardinal direction or parts of the city, for example, downtown, or south side.
Select “Race” from the Customization menu. The “Create New Race” screen will be displayed. Type in the name of the Race you want to add in the provided field at the top of the screen. Click on the “Save” button just under where you have typed the name of the new type. The race will now appear on the “Current Races” list in the middle of the screen.
To order the list of territories so that they are displayed in the drop down menu in the most convenient way, highlight a territory on the “Display Order Table”, and then use the up and down buttons to move it on the list. The menu choices will be displayed in the order you set.
From the Current Territories list click on the territory that needs to be edited. The “Edit Territory” screen will be displayed. Make the required changes, and then click the Save button just underneath the Edit field.
To delete it completely, Click on the icon displayed to the right of the status name in the “Delete” column of the Current Requirement Statuses list.
]]>The email parser is the tool within BrightMove that will create an applicant profile automatically when you forward a resume from your email inbox. The resume can be attached to an email or in the body of an email. The parser reads the resume and then populates the fields of the applicant profile.
[h4Parser Set-up
When you sign up for a trial of BrightMove, you can contact a BrightMove representative either via email (support@brightmove.com), or via phone (877-482-8840) and ask for a parser account. If you don’t get a parser account set up when you first enroll in a trial, feel free to request one at any time during your trial or upon or after purchase of the product.
Any employee of your company who has permission to use the parser may use it. The person who has administrative rights for your BrightMove account can assign an employee permission to use the parser.
From your email inbox, click the forward button just as you normally would to forward the email. In the “to” box enter your email parser account address. If you have a signature in your email and you are sending the resume as an attachment, DELETE YOUR SIGNATURE INFORMATION. Click “Send”. The resume will be parsed and the applicant record will be created with the original resume attached in BrightMove.
If you would like the applicant who has sent his/her resume to you to appear in a specific job within BrightMove, put somewhere in the subject line BMID followed immediately by the BrightMove ID that is automatically assigned to every job. The candidate will be categorized underneath that job. This does not submit the candidate to the hiring manager, just lists him/her under the job so that you can see that the candidate actually applied for that specific opening.)
