Millennials Prefer Flexibility

This generation has many hobbies and prioritizes work-life balance. They need a career with flexible scheduling, and they’ll appreciate your help in making that flexibility possible. They may want to cut out early if they finish their work at 3 o’clock. Let them. This will keep millennials motivated and prevent them from feeling burned out. They might even appreciate flexible scheduling more than other workplace perks.

Millennials Love Empowerment

Try letting millennials call the shots once in a while. They may have different ideas, but different doesn’t necessarily mean bad. After they’ve been working in a position for a while, it’s probable that they know their job better than you do. If they have any ideas relating to processes or the best way to perform their role, always be willing to listen.

As an HR manager, it’s your job to mirror your leaders in enforcing the company culture. Place a strong emphasis on the good your company does for the world. Good luck taking social media away from millennials. If you don’t let them use it on company computers, they’ll spend all of their breaks checking their phones. This isn’t a downside to hiring millennials – it’s a distinct strength they have that any company can play to its advantage. If your company has a social media presence, allow the millennials to take control. It will be a piece of cake for them, and the results you see will be better than ever.
